University of Veterinary Sciences starts virus tests

LAHORE :19 April: The Biosafety Level-3 Laboratory for Emerging Pathogens of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has begun conducting diagnostic tests for coronavirus (Covid-19). The UVAS lab has successfully processed the first batch of 205 coronavirus suspected samples received from Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad visited the laboratory, inspected the testing process and appreciated Prof Dr Tahir Yaqub, chairman, Department of Microbiology, and his team for their contribution to the noble cause.

40 firms set up stalls at University of Veterinary Sciences job fair

LAHORE:31 January:A one-day job fair was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Thursday, in which a total of 40 companies had set up stalls, displayed their products and brochures and registered the university’s students for jobs. The Office of University Advancement and Financial Aid (OUAFA) had organised the job fair which was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad along with Faisal Fareed while Director (OUAFA) Dr Muhammad Hayat Jaspal and a large number of industry representatives, faculty members and students were present.

US university official visits University of Veterinary Sciences

Lahore:17 January:A delegate from University of Oklahoma, the US, visited University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) City Campus and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani. According to a press release, the delegate, Dr Ali Imran, agreed to collaborate with UVAS in future. The UVAS VC briefed him about the UVAS academic, research and training programmes, clinical services, diagnostic lab facilities, national and international collaborations and other curricular and extra-curricular activities.

World Animal Day at University of Veterinary Sciences

Lahore:05 October: University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) observed World Animal Day here on Friday. A walk and a seminar were held to mark the day to create awareness among people about the protection and conservation of animal lives, humane handling of animals in feeding, treatment and avoid misuse (fights of animals) for entertainment purposes.

University of Veterinary Sciences Sighn MoU

LAHORE:01 August:University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and Institute of Public Health (IPH), Lahore, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a mutually-beneficial relationship for academic and research cooperation. Board of Management Chairman and former Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool and IPH Dean Prof Dr ZarfishanTahir and UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr TalatNaseer Pasha and Faculty of Biosciences Dean Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman signed the MoU in a ceremony held at IPH.

Swiss ambassador visits University of Veterinary Sciences at Pattoki

LAHORE :21 March: Swiss Ambassador to Pakistan Thomas Kolly visited the Ravi Campus of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Pattoki on Wednesday and stressed the need for increasing public-private partnerships in view of the climate change challenges. The ambassador held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and senior faculty members to discuss the climate change, the current year’s prolonged winter season’s bad effects on agriculture and livestock, water conservation and public-private cooperation to mitigate the effects of climate change.

University of Veterinary sciences holds book fair

LAHORE:12 February: The central library of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS) arranged a two-day annual book fair 2019 in the city campus here on Monday. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha inaugurated the book fair which will continue till Tuesday today while Librarian Muhammad Aslam, Prof Dr Asim Aslam, Ms Abeeda Zia and a large number of students, faculty members and book sellers were present.

UVAS orgainsed a ceremony in connection Jashan-e-Jinnah

LAHORE:December 29: The Literary and Art Society (QIRTAS) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) orgainsed a ceremony in connection with "Jashan-e-Jinnah" to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Different activities including documentary on the life of Quaid-e-Azam and freedom movement as well as poetry, speeches and patriotic song were presented by students.

UVAS signs MoU on milk adulteration survey

Lahore:May 08:University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly conduct a milk adulteration survey.

According to a press release Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Assad Abbas signed the MoU while Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Prof Dr Arshad Ali was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the VC said milk adulteration survey would be a step towards ensuring supply of quality pure milk to consumers.
