Dr Khalid wins Best Researcher Award

LAHORE :09 August: Dr Khalid Sanjrani, Chairperson of Urdu Department of Government College University (GCU) Lahore, has been bestowed with the Best Researcher Award by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Dr Sanjrani won the Best Researcher Award in the category of Arts, Humanities and Languages for his research paper on the topic related to Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Heidelberg University, Germany. LAHORE :July 24: The Higher Education Department (HED), Punjab, on Tuesday issued appointment notifications of the vice chancellors (VCs) of four public sector universities of the province. LAHORE:April 12: Government College University (GCU) on Thursday organised a job fair which received an overwhelming response as hundreds of university graduates and final year students flocked to the venue to seek employment and internship opportunities in the reputed international and national organisations. GC University blood donation campaign for cancer patients

LAHORE:April 11: The students and faculty members of the Government College University, Lahore have donated almost 258 pints of blood for cancer patients. The blood donation drive was organised by the GCU Blood Donor Society (GCU-BDS) in collaboration with the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), Lahore. Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU Vice-Chancellor, visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of the BDS members who donate more than 1,500 pints of blood every year for the patients suffering from cancer.

GC University VC given charge of Tianjin University

LAHORE:02 April: Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU), has been given additional charge of Vice Chancellor of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore. A notification in this regard was issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department after the approval of Chancellor/Punjab governor. According to the notification, Prof Hassan Shah will hold the additional charge of the post till the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor at Punjab Tianjin University of Technology.

LAHORE :March 8: A two-day workshop on “Basic tools in Bioinformatics” organised by the Government College University (GCU) Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (IIB) began here Thursday. University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the inaugural session of the workshop which was also addressed by Dean Prof Dr Riaz Ahmad and resource persons Dr Khurshid Ayub and Dr Umer Rashid.

GC University sign MoU with Baltistan University

LAHORE:17 Feb: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of Baltistan, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, for research and academic collaboration. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and UoBS Vice Chancellor Dr Prof Muhammad Naeem Khan signed the accord at a ceremony organised by the GCU Directorate of Academic Planning and External Links (AP&EL) at the University’s vice chancellor office. GCU Registrar Saboor Ahmad Khan and former Punjab Higher Education Commission chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin were present.

GC University awarded a PhD degree to a scholar in field of Statistics

Koreans happy for Being Ravians of GC UNIVERSITY

Lahore:14 May:Government College University (GCU) organised a certificate distribution and farewell ceremony for a group of students from South Korea, who completed Urdu language and literature course from the university.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah conferred the certificates on the group of five foreign students comprising Kim You Jin, Hangeul, Ryu, Song Eun Hee, Lee Haeun and Jung Yo Han. GCU Dean Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed and Urdu Department Chairman Prof Dr Haroon Qadir were also present.

American artist performs at GC University Concert

Lahore:22 April:American ethnomusicologist and teaching artist Dr Amie (Amelia) Maciszewski performed at a concert organised by the United States Consulate and Quaid-e-Azam Political Science Society at the Government College University (GCU) on Thursday.

According to a press release, Dr Amelia, who believes that music has no boundaries, began her sitar performance sitar of “Puriya Dhanashree Raga” (Melody), which she says is “Raga” of evening.
