Punjab University Senate polls result announced

LAHORE:07 December:Punjab University (PU) has announced the result of its senate's elections on the six seats of principals of affiliated colleges and five seats of registered graduates. According to the poll count on the seats of principals Aslam Pervaiz, Ahsan Mukhtar, Anjum Nizami, Nasreen Aftab, Nuzhatur Rehman and Farah Rasheed got 64, 62, 61, 56, 56 and 53 votes, respectively and won the elections.

Matric admission date extended

LAHORE:06 December:Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, has extended last date for receipt of admission forms for Matric annual examination 2020, starting on February 22. A BISE spokesperson said regular and private candidates could submit their forms till Dec 13 with single, till Dec 20 with double fee and till Dec 27 with triple fee.The news.

Panels to build up health profile of medical students in Punjab

LAHORE:06 December: The Punjab government has constituted six-member committees of senior doctors at each public sector medical universities/colleges to prepare data of students for the maintenance of their health profile, including blood group, smoking and drug intake history following the reports of drug abuse at teaching institutions. The committees have been assigned task to carry out tests/screening of the drug addict students of medical institutes.

Sedition’ case lodged against participants of Student Solidarity March

LAHORE:03 December: A case under sedition charges has been registered against Iqbal Lala, father of Mashal Khan, and other participants of the Student Solidarity March, held across the country including Lahore on November 29, for restoration of students unions. Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was lynched by an angry mob over blasphemy allegations in 2017. Lala, Ammar Ali Jan, Farooq Tariq, Alamgir Wazir, Muhammad Shabbir and Kamil Khan are nominated in the case, registered at the Civil Lines Police Station on the complaint of sub-inspector Muhamamd Nawaz.

Punjab University suspends nine students over clash

LAHORE:01 December: The Punjab University (PU) administration on Saturday suspended nine students of the Punjabi Council and the Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) for their alleged involvement in a clash five days ago. It also cancelled the hostel allotments of these students. The Punjabi Council activists were organsing a rally on campus to welcome the newcomers late on Nov 26 when a group of IJT activists stared gathering outside Hostel No 8 and chanted slogans. Both student groups clashed and resorted to aerial firing as a result of which five of them were injured.

University of Engineering with NAB in curbing corruption

LAHORE:27 November:University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) organised a seminar to create awareness among students against corruption and the role of NAB in fighting this menace. UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, NAB Director Niaz Hassan, Additional Director Khalid Mahmood, Deputy Director Muhammad Sajid, UET officials and faculty members, staff and large number of students attended the seminar.

Punjab University to promote ties between Pak, China universities

LAHORE:27 November:Punjab University’s Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla has said art has a universal language while adding that China and Pakistan could strengthen bilateral and people to people relations further through fine arts. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day university exchange and art education forum on “China-Pakistan Friendship” jointly organised by PU College of Arts and Design (PUCAD) and Changsha Normal University’ College of Fine Arts and Design at Old Campus here Tuesday.

University of Management a Rector Merit Award ceremony

LAHORE : 23 November:Office of the Controller Examinations of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) organised a Rector Merit Award ceremony here on Friday in which 476 students were awarded certificates and merit awards. According to a press release UMT Rector Dr Muhammad Aslam along with deans of respective schools gave away certificates and merit awards to 476 students of BS, Masters, and MPhil/MS academic disciplines from 18 different schools of UMT, who showed extraordinary performance in studies. The students had secured 4.0 GPA.
