Islamia University of Bahawalpur to restructure curriculum

BAHAWALPUR:21 August: Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice-Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob has said that steps are being taken to make the varsity a shining institution at national and international level. He expressed these views during a meeting with journalists at Baghdadul Jadeed Campus. The syllabus will be restructured to make it compatible with modern needs. “Research benefiting society will be encouraged.” Excellence in both teaching and research will surely help to contribute to social and economic development, he added.

25 schools to get classrooms in Bahwalpur

BAHAWALPUR:20 August: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shozab Saeed Monday chaired a meeting of the district development committee. The meeting reviewed the development project of constructing additional classrooms in schools being operated under the Punjab Education Initiative Management Authority. The meeting was briefed that additional classrooms will be constructed in 25 government schools with a cost of Rs 82 million.

Prof Athar Mehboob new VC of Islamia University of Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government has appointed Prof Dr Athar Mehboob as the vice-chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Higher Education Department issued a notification on Tuesday. Dr Athar Mehboob is currently serving as Vice-Chancellor of Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology Rahimyar Khan. He has 25 years experience in teaching, research and industrial projects in various prestigious institutions in Pakistan and abroad.

11 schoolchildren suffered injuries when bees stung them in Bukkar

Bhakkar:18 March: Rescue officials said that children were playing in a government primary school when bees from a tree stung them. As a result, 11 children identified as Noshan Hassan Khan, Abdullah, Farhan, Nasir, Huzaifa, Faizan, Banifsha, Palusha, Asma, Emaan Fatima and Ayesha were injured. Officials said that all the children were between three to six years of age. Soon after the incident, rescue officials reached the spot and shifted the children to a local hospital. Hospital sources said that the condition of one of the victims was critical.
