LHORE:18 January: An accountability court on Thursday extended judicial remand of Sargodha University former Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry and the university’s former registrar Brigadier Rtd Rao Jamil Asghar , accused of receiving millions of rupees as bribe for allowing establishment of illegal sub-campuses under the public private partnership policy and jeopardizing the future of thousands of students. The court has also extended judicial remand of other accused in the scam including, Muhammad Akram, Mandi Bahauddin sub-campus CEO Waris Nadeem and his partner Naeem Mukhtar.

LAHORE:January 14: Gilgit-Baltistan Students Federation on Sunday staged a protest demonstration at Liberty, against police for not arresting the culprits involved in the murder of a student. The protesters said that the police concerned were reluctant to round up the culprits who had kidnapped and killed a student Ejaz in Rawalpindi 10 days back. They demanded the authority concerned to look into the matter and direct the police to arrest the murderers.The news.
FAISALABAD:12 January: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa Friday announced donating his seven acres of land to the Akhuwat Trust for educational purposes. Chairing the steering meeting of Akhuwat, the VC said helping the disadvantage class and work for their welfare would result in the progress of the country. He said his land near Gojra should be used to raise educational level and bring prosperity in the area.

LAHORE:12 January: Punjab University has issued schedule for registration of private students for BA/BSc Part-I annual examination 2019 for those students who have passed compartment (failing in one/ two paper) only supplementary intermediate examination 2018. Such students can apply for online registration and have to submit private registration form along with original bank challan of fee Rs3720/- deposit fee in any HBL branch (notified for such purpose) and required educational documents with photocopies of I.D card from January 14 to January 28.

LAHORE:January 11: Punjab University has awarded PhD degree to Savera Mujib Shami daughter of Mujibur-Rehman Shami in the subject of Communication Studies after approval of her thesis entitled ‘Social Media and Political Communication: Usage of Facebook and Twitter by the Political Actors of Pakistan and Analysis of Audience Reaction’. OKARA:10 January: Punjab Population Welfare Minister Col (retd) Sardar Hashim Dogar Wednesday said population could be controlled only through education. Addressing a symposium arranged by the District Population Welfare Department (DPWD), the minister said healthy family and children were the basis of a healthy nation. He said unchecked increase in population was a critical situation for the country. The minister said the Punjab government was initiating a monthly stipend from the Benazir Income Support Program for poor mothers who go out for labour and cannot feed their children.
