LAHORE:April 12: Government College University (GCU) on Thursday organised a job fair which received an overwhelming response as hundreds of university graduates and final year students flocked to the venue to seek employment and internship opportunities in the reputed international and national organisations. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah inaugurated the GCU Job Fair 2019 which was organised by the university's Career Guidance and Placement Centre under the umbrella of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at the university’s Bukhari Auditorium.

GC University blood donation campaign for cancer patients

LAHORE:April 11: The students and faculty members of the Government College University, Lahore have donated almost 258 pints of blood for cancer patients. The blood donation drive was organised by the GCU Blood Donor Society (GCU-BDS) in collaboration with the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), Lahore. Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU Vice-Chancellor, visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of the BDS members who donate more than 1,500 pints of blood every year for the patients suffering from cancer.

Four-year BS may soon become terminal degree

Rawalpindi:In its ongoing mission to enhance the quality of higher education, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has started the process of revamping the four-year undergraduate curriculum. “The purpose of revamping curriculum is to make the undergraduate degree a terminal one and produce graduates who are truly educated and have enough knowledge and skill to emerge into the professional world,” said HEC Chairman Dr Tariq Banuri. He emphasised the centrality of undergraduate studies for overall enhancement of the quality of higher education.

LUMS students protest against sexist social media posts

LAHORE:10 April: A large number of women students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) protested against their male class fellows for posting derogatory and sexist remarks on social networking sites. The female students also boycotted classes and held a sit-in outside the university’s Office of Students Affairs. They shouted slogans against the students involved in the incident. The girls demanded that the university administration take strict action against their class fellows as the incident has not only damaged their reputation, but also tarnished the image of LUMS.

Business education moot concludes

LAHORE:April 10: The two-day 6th Deans & Directors conference organised by the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) under the theme “The Evolving Landscape of Business Education across the Globe” concluded here Tuesday. On the concluding day besides parallel workshops, plenary sessions were held in which the speakers talked about the use of technology in education by business schools and their civic responsibilities. Question -Answer sessions were also held in which the participants put pertinent questions to the speakers.

Punjab University book fair

LAHORE:April 9: Punjab University Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Abid Hussain Ch on Monday chaired a meeting of Stalls Committee to review arrangements for Pakistan’s largest book fair to be held from April 25 to 27. According to a press release, this time the university will organise the book fair in cricket ground adjacent to admin block New Campus. The members also gave suggestions to the participants regarding arrangements to organise book fair successfully.The news.

Convocation of Punjab University’ 232 receive degrees

LAHORE:April 8: The 6th convocation of Punjab University’s College of Pharmacy was held at a local hotel here Sunday in which 232 degrees of Pharm-D were distributed among the students, including 15 of session 2013-2018. Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Prof Dr Khalid Hussain, senior faculty members and a large number of graduating students and their parents were present.

Promotion of technical education training urged

LAHORE:04 April: All segments of society and the government should play their role in promotion of technical education and vocational training. The industry and government jointly work for the development of the training sector in the developed countries. GC University VC given charge of Tianjin University

LAHORE:02 April: Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU), has been given additional charge of Vice Chancellor of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore. A notification in this regard was issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department after the approval of Chancellor/Punjab governor. According to the notification, Prof Hassan Shah will hold the additional charge of the post till the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor at Punjab Tianjin University of Technology.

King Edward Medical University achievements highlighted

LAHORE:02 April: The 2nd annual gala dinner of KE alumni was held here at Library Hall of King Edward Medical University, Lahore. Prof Kh Sadiq Husain, ex-principal KEMC, senior teacher and mentor and Prof Tariq Iqbal Bhutta, president of PM&DC, were the chief guests. The alumni honoured ex-principal KEMC and ex-president CPSP Prof Ijaz Ahsan with lifetime achievement award.
