LAHORE:20 August: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) and Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) jointly organised an event here at the varsity on Monday to celebrate Independence Day and launch monsoon tree plantation campaign. University of Health Sciences former vice chancellor Maj Gen (R) Prof Muhammad Aslam gave a presentation on “Journey of Pakistan’. He said that Pakistan came into being with the sacrifices of hundreds and thousands of Muslims. He added that the journey continues and the nation has yet to reach its destination.

52pc pass class 9 exam BISE

Lahore:20 August:Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Monday announced the results of class-9 Annual Examinations 2019 according to which overall pass percentage is 52.07 per cent. About 271,447 candidates appeared in the examination out of which 141,350 passed the exam. Punjab University to be improved through changes, says minister

LAHORE:20 August: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun has said that the concept of one subject based universities would be amended and college sector would be improved through systematic amendments. He said this was addressing the 353rd meeting of Punjab University Senate at Senate Hall, Old Campus here Monday. Punjab University teachers rally against India

LAHORE: 20 August:A large number of senior PU teachers on Monday took to The Mall to condemn Indian atrocities in the Held Kashmir. The teachers' rally was led by Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun in which PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, deans of various faculties, heads of various departments and a large number of senior faculty members participated in the rally.

School headmaster tortured by landlord

HAFIZABAD:17 August: A landlord allegedly tortured a school headmaster for stopping him to tie up his cattle on the premises of the school. Reportedly, after summer vacation, Headmaster of Government Primary School Riaz Ahmad came in his school where he saw that some cattle were tied up there. He called accused landlord Zafar Iqbal and forbade him to tie up cattle in the premises of the school, which infuriated the accused. Later, the accused landlord allegedly tortured the school headmaster.

Two-year BA/BSC, BCom will be associate degrees

LAHORE: IN the wake of Higher Education Commission (HEC)’s recent decision to abolish BA/BSc and BCom degrees from the upcoming academic session, PU on Friday issued a notification announcing a change in the nomenclature of the degrees into Associate Degrees. According to the notification, the nomenclature of two-year BA/BSC and BCom degrees would be Associate Degree in Arts, Associate Degree in Science and Associate Degree in Commerce, respectively, for regular and private students.

Dr Khalid wins Best Researcher Award

LAHORE :09 August: Dr Khalid Sanjrani, Chairperson of Urdu Department of Government College University (GCU) Lahore, has been bestowed with the Best Researcher Award by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Dr Sanjrani won the Best Researcher Award in the category of Arts, Humanities and Languages for his research paper on the topic related to Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Heidelberg University, Germany. Teachers protest plan to hand over schools to LGs

LAHORE :09 August: Teachers Action Committee Punjab Thursday organised a demonstration to protest over what it termed handing over of public schools to the local governments under New Local Government Ordinance 2019. The demonstration was held outside the Lahore Press Club in which a large number of schoolteachers participated and strongly condemned the move. Carrying banners and placards they chanted slogans against the government saying the handing over of schools to the local government would not be acceptable at any cost.

430 graduates receive degrees at PU convocation

LAHORE :09 August: Punjab University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar has said that Pakistan and Kashmiri people would not accept special status of Indian Occupied Kashmir by Indian Parliament. He was addressing the convocation of PU Hailey College of Commerce at a hotel here Thursday. In all, 430 graduates of MPhil, MCom, MCom IT, BCom (Hons) and BCom IT received degrees while 30 medals were distributed at the convocation. Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof Dr Mubasher Munawar Khan, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event.
