CM approves rules for Daanish Schools hiring

LAHORE:26 October: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting of Punjab Daanish Schools and Centres of Excellence Authority at his office here Friday. The meeting decided to include ethics and civics as subjects in the syllabus of Daanish schools along with the decision to morally educate the students through life-skills learning in partnership with the Aga Khan University.

Sargodha University scholar invents sugarcane intercropping drill

Sargodha:25 October:A professor of College of Agriculture, Sargodha University (SU) has become the first Pakistani national to invent a multipurpose and multifunctional sugarcane intercropping drill. The invention will meet the diversified needs of small scale farmers by maximising land utilisation, increasing total yield and high monetary returns. Department of Agronomy Assistant Professor Dr Abdul Rehman has designed and fabricated a unique and the first drill of its kind with the help of his research team and local industry using indigenous raw material.

Lahore College for Women University 72nd meeting of the syndicate

Lahore:23 October: The matter regarding the annexation of Lahore College for Women University’s (LCWU’s) sub-campus Jhang as a constituent College of University of Jhang was presented before the 72nd meeting of the syndicate held recently. According to a press released, the LCWU Syndicate suggested following the policy of the Punjab government with regard to the sub-campus in Jhang.

University of Health Sciences displays merit lists

LAHORE:23 October:University of Health Sciences (UHS) has displayed the provisional merit lists for public sector medical and dental colleges of Punjab. Merit lists have been issued in accordance with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Admission Regulations, 2019. The merit of the applicants has been calculated by giving equal weight to the higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) and Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) marks.

PMDC admission regulations restored

LAHORE :22 October:A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday suspended a decision of a single bench and restored admission regulations-2019 framed by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC). A single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti had on October 14 set aside the 2019 admission regulations and ruled that the PMDC had not been vested with any power under its Ordinance 2019 as it then was to amend the protected regulations, 2018.

University of Health Sciences budget approved

LAHORE:22 October:The University of Health Sciences’ (UHS) Board of Governors (BoG) has approved Rs 1,383.277 million budget for the financial year 2019-20. The 41st meeting of UHS board was held here on Monday that was chaired by Justice (Retired) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani. Other members who attended the meeting included Salima Hashmi, Andleeb Abbas, UHS VC Prof Javed Akram and representatives of provincial health and finance departments.

Girls’ rights highlighted

LAHORE:17 October:School girls from high and higher secondary classes spoke on various issues that impede progress and need to be addressed. Ten girls highlighted rights of girls such as safety, equality, transport, sports facilitation, right to choice and free education till the age of 16 by the state as the Constitution promises in Article 25A.

Prof Asghar Zaidi likely to be new GCU VC

LAHORE:16 October:The Search Committee for the post of Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU) Lahore has recommended Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi as the top candidate for the university, it is learnt. Interviews of shortlisted candidates for the post of GCU VC were completed last week and according to sources the Search Committee signed off the panel of three most suitable candidates for the coveted post placing the name of Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi on the top.

Awareness walk held on campus of Government College University

LAHORE:16 October:In order to create awareness among the students and eliminate social stigma attached to the breast cancer, a walk was held on campus of Government College University (GCU) here on Tuesday. Lahore different A-category private schools fee:

Lahore:15 October: The Lahore High Court on Monday directed the provincial and district governments to ensure enforcing a verdict by Supreme Court on private schools fee issue in its letter and spirit and also make sure that no student was expelled. Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi was hearing several petitions moved by parents of students studying at different A-category private schools.
