CPSP holds flag hoisting ceremony

Lahore:15 August: A flag hoisting ceremony was arranged at College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan, Regional Centre.

Besides members of the council, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof Aamer Zaman Khan, Prof Muhammad Tayyab, Prof Moeed Iqbal, Prof Zahid Kamal, Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof Ijaz Hussain, Prof Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Prof Syed Asghar Naqi, Dr Ahmed Uzair Qureshi, Dr Fozia Karim, a large number of fellows and senior professors attended the ceremony.

Sultana’s book Leading Lights

Lahore:13 August:Lahore used to be an open and inclusive city when I was growing up. I still remember the time spent with my friends from the Parsi community,” writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar said on Thursday.

He was reviewing Bushra Sultana’s book Leading Lights at an event held to commemorate Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s August 11, 1947, speech to the Constituent Assembly.

Many people in the audience mentioned growing intolerance towards other people’s beliefs and use of violence in religious disputes led to a decline in openness and inclusivity in the city.

UET delegation of 26 students departed to Quetta

Lahore:August 13:Technology, Lahore, departed to Quetta via Azadi Train to participate in different events related to Independence Day over there.

According to a press release, UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmed Khalid while talking to the students before their departure said, "Pakistan is everything for us and we should perform our duties with unity to make Pakistan strong so that we may strengthen identity and dignity of our land."The news.


Universities hold walks ahead of I-Day

Lahore:August 13:Punjab University (PU) organised a walk in connection with Independence Day celebrations on Friday.

The walk started from the Undergraduate Block and culminated outside the Institute of Education & Research (IER) at New Campus.

Speaking on the occasion, PU Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Kamal said the whole nation was united against its enemies, adding that their dreams to divide the country would never come true. He said it was essential to promote education culture for the sake of country’s progress and to eradicate terrorism.

Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa Model Degree College 60 teachers complete training

Lahore: August 12:The four-day training for 60 selected teachers conducted by Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa Model Degree College concluded here on Thursday.

    Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Saiddique-ul-Farooq was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony while the college principal, Bushra Mujahid, Vice-Principal Uzma Khizar, other faculty members and participants of the training were also present.

    Siddique-ul-Farooq distributed certificates among the participants of the training and lauded the efforts of the organisers.

Govt colleges directed to collect admission fee in their offices

Rawalpindi:August 11:Taking back the decision of submission of the admission fee in the banks, the provincial education department has directed the administration of the public sector colleges to collect admission fee of the students in their respective offices.

According to the directives issued by the provincial government, the students would now submit admission fee in the colleges because the earlier decision for submission of the fee in the banks has been taken back due to security reasons.

Shahbaz Sharif announced a free house, Rs 5 million, a laptop and lifetime free education for a rural female student, Nargis Gull

Lahore:11 August :Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced a free house, Rs 5 million, a laptop and lifetime free education for a rural female student, Nargis Gull, who obtained 1004 marks in the matriculation examinations.Nargis Gull who lives in a shanty in Thanil Fatoi village of Chakwal met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday. The CM congratulated her on obtaining 1004 marks in science subjects in Rawalpindi board and announced a free house on behalf of Punjab government for her.  He also gave her a cheque for Rs 5 million five and a laptop.
