PU MoU to Promote Research and Training Activities

Lahore:September 02: Punjab University College of Pharmacy and Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote research and training activities between the two organisations.

The MoU has been signed to provide training to pharmacy students by member companies, exchange academic data and work on special projects.

Training workshop on governance, finance ends

Rawalpindi:August 31:The five-day training workshop on ‘Governance, Finance and Audit’ for the capacity building of principals/DDOs of various government colleges of Rawalpindi Division concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Tuesday.

The workshop arranged in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) with an aim to enhance the management skills and capabilities of principals and equipped them with better skills about the governance for their institution.

Inter result on Sept 17

Lahore:August 31:The examination boards across Punjab will announce the result of intermediate annual examination, 2016, on September 17. A spokesperson for Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education said BISE Chairman Prof Ch Muhammad Ismail would announce the names of position holder students of the board on September 16.The news.

Fatima Jinnah Award

Lahore:August 31:Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that Fatima Jinnah Award will be given to women rendering outstanding services in different sectors.

She was addressing a meeting of core committee on Fatima Jinnah Award. Provincial Secretary Bushra Aman, Secretary Women Commission Usman Sheikh, Ms Hooriya of UN-Women, Deputy Secretary Falak Sher Bhatti besides others attended the meeting.

A four-member selection committee was constituted in the meeting which will submit its recommendations within two weeks.The news.

Childhood Education Centres

Lahore:August 31:With technical and financial support of Unicef, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will set up early childhood education centres in 105 selected partner schools in Lahore, Rahimyar Khan, Rajanpur, Jhang and Toba Teak Singh districts.

According to a handout, a joint meeting of Unicef and PEF officials was on Tuesday at PEF head office with managing director Tariq Mahmood in the chair. Unicef’s education specialist Ms Rubina Nadeem and education officer Asif Ibrar besides PEF deputy managing directors and other officials attended the meeting.

Department of Climate Change to be established at PMAS-AAUR

Rawalpindi:30 august: The Academic Council of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) approved the establishment of Climate Change Department under the Institute of Geo-Information and Earth Observation, here on Monday.

This was decided in the 55th meeting of the academic council held under the chairmanship of PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad. Senior faculty members, teaching heads, librarian, Registrar, Deans of Faculties, Directors of institutes and Controller Examination also attended the meeting.

SLS School students return from abroad

Rawalpindi:30 august:Two students of Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School recently came back after being in the United States for a year under iEarn’s Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Programme, says a press release.

Yumna Owais and Maira Asrar, students of the SLS, Lalkurti campus were 16 and 15 years old respectively when they were selected to spend one year in the United States as cultural ambassadors of Pakistan.

Punjab University Girls bag Top Positions in BA/BSc

Lahore:30 august: Punjab University on Monday announced the results of BA/BSc Annual Examination 2016, according to which, the overall pass percentage remained 37.66.

    According to the results, all the top three positions were clinched by the girls in BSc examination. BSc student Ms Huma, roll number 15881, bagged overall first position by scoring 702 marks out of 800; BSc student Zara Nasir, roll number 10473, stood second by securing 699 marks and BSc student Maryam Saba, roll number 23441, stood third by securing 697 marks.

Workshop at University of Engineering Lahore

Lahore:30 august:The stakeholder consultation workshop on Water Resources Management organised by the Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering of the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) in the collaboration with STEDEC Technology Commercialisation Corporation of Pakistan was held here on Monday.

Renowned experts from across Pakistan attended the workshop while Federal Minister for Science & Technology and Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion.

50,000 more scholarships for students in 2017

Lahore:30 august: The Punjab Higher Education Department will distribute 50,000 more scholarships in 2017 and the volume of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund will reach Rs11 billion.

Provincial Minister for Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz presided over a review meeting here today regarding distribution of scholarships among poor and talented students in nine divisional headquarters under Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.

An upward of 56,000 students sit UHS test

Lahore:29 August: A total of 56,272 candidates -- 36,542 female and 19,730 male -- appeared amid tight security in the entrance test for admission to the public and private sector medical and dental colleges in Punjab on Sunday.

The test was conducted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) simultaneously at 27 centres set up in Lahore, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Sialkot and Hasan Abdal under the supervision of more than 5,000 invigilators and other staff.
