Punjab University grand welcome party for new students

LAHORE:The Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran while welcoming new students of different programmes on Thursday advised them not to waste time and focus only on studies because their parents and nation had invested on them for their bright future.

He was addressing a grand welcome party for the new students of the varsity’s BA/BSc and MA/MSc programmes in the Faisal Auditorium at New Campus on Thursday.

PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Advisor Students Iftikhar Ahmad, deans of all faculties, heads of teaching departments and hundred of students attended the ceremony arranged by Student Teaching Centre (STC) of the university.

An interesting situation developed when some students belonging to Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) started raising slogans regarding fee hike during speech of the vice chancellor. However, silence prevailed in the hall when the VC invited the students to come on stage and put forward their demands formally. Interestingly no one came on the stage. THE NEWS
