LAHORE:August 31:THE Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi (ITA) will introduce a three pronged programme of education, skill and livelihood for poverty reduction and human dignity in Punjab.
In this regard, Tevta and ITA singed an MoU at the Tevta Secretariat on Monday. This MoU was singed by Chairman Tevta Saeed Ahmad Alvi and Chairperson ITA Dr Narmeen A Hamid. The collaboration will target youth and adults of 14 to 35 years across the province of the Punjab. The entry qualification for admission will be primary and middle in demand based 56 six-month trades and 85 three-month trades courses.
According to details of the programme, the said programme will be introduced as a pilot project in South Punjab at Government Elementary School Rahimyar Khan with effect from 1st October, 2010. Three months duration domestic tailoring, beautician and certificate in computer application courses will be offered to male and female youth at this school.
The Tevta will facilitate afternoon programmes of 3-6-month certified courses in appropriate trades. The certified trainers/faculty, machinery/equipment will also be provided while certification and job placement of graduates will also be arranged.
The ITA will identify city and space to start the programme while it will also arrange resources for hiring Tevta trained faculty/trainers and consumables/equipments.
The ITA will also ensure transparency and accountability for appropriate functioning of this programme. The collaboration principle is “Not-For-Profit” and will synergise the efforts through public-private partnership. The News,
