Colleges without central admission system: YDA

LAHORE:THE Young Doctors Association (YDA) has pointed out that most private medical colleges of the province have completed their admissions while the merit-list of the government sector medical colleges is yet to be displayed on November 30, 2010.
The YDA has shown great concern over the matter and added that the UHS administration had claimed that they would have a centralised admission system this time for all the private medical colleges which would be done by the UHS just like it was doing for government colleges. However, the UHS has badly failed to make a transparent centralised system for admissions to 26 private sector colleges of the province.
The YDA office-bearers, including Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Talha Sherwani and others, have further added that the administration of private medical colleges is requesting the parents of the students on telephone to urgently submit the dues of first year to confirm their admissions to the colleges despite knowing that admissions to government sector colleges have not yet been done and total violation of merit is being done in the process. The YDA has appealed to the parents to contact the young doctors for action against the colleges and said that they will soon have a press conference along with the parents against the colleges involved.
The YDA office-bearers have further expressed serious concern over the fact that the PMDC and UHS were playing in the hands of the private medical colleges’ mafia and were reluctant to take action against them. They have demanded the Chief Minister Punjab take action against these colleges. The news
