Dr Mukhtar has assumed the charge of IUB Vice Chancellor

Bahawalpur:23 July :Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar has assumed the charge of post of Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur today. The Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab had issued notification of his appointment yesterday. Before joining the IUB he was serving as Prof. of Biochemistry at the Pir Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi under the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar belongs to Bahawalpur city, he did his schooling in a local village and completed his B.Sc from Govt. Sadiq Edgerton College, Bahawalpur. He then, proceeded to University of Agriculture Faisalabad and completed his M.Sc and M.Phil in the field of Biochemistry. Dr. Mukhtar earned his Ph.D from the department of Biosciences, Drexel University of Philadelphia, USA. He also served as teaching/research associate in the same university. Later, he joined Department of Medicine of the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia USA as post-doctoral fellow in 1995 on Outstanding Scientist Visa Award. He also served on various senior teaching positions in renowned institutions of USA and got number of awards from National Health Institute of USA and some other organizations. He also achieved Atorvastatin Award of the years 2002 from the Pfizer Pharmaceutical.
Dr. Mukhtar has over 70 research papers in highly impact factor journals, several books chapters and invited articles to his credit. Dr. Mukhtar has always been highly eager to improve the capacity and quality of research in the Muslim words. Faculty members, Administrative staffs and students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have welcomed his joining as Vice Chancellor and hoped that the university and region would be benefited from his rich and international teaching and research exposure.
