Rawalpindi:The month of Rabi-ul-Awwal sees many programmes and functions cantered around a ‘milad’ — from the presidency to small schools and all other kinds of groups organise one and their main thrust is to glorify; remember, observe, discuss the advent of the birth and teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, (peace be upon him) and celebrated by Muslims as Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Arabia in the city of Mecca on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, but this is also his death anniversary. These ‘milads’ are arranged — for ladies only — throughout the month — while men attend them in mosques. Some of the them are grand affairs with many guests invited and well known vocalists and experts on the art of singing hymns raising their voices in praise, while others serve to bring out the talent from within their own set-up — mainly educational institutions, inculcating religious tenets and teachings apart from the regular curriculum.
Some ‘milads’ also have recitations and the telling of stories. To this end, the SLS School and Montessori, Tufail Road Branch organised a ‘milad’ at the school premises and both senior students and teachers took part in the event eulogising the words; deeds and life of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohamamd (peace be upon him).
The function was attended by mothers and other female family members of the students and a few other guests, who were welcomed by the principal and other faculty members. The stage had been decorated commensurate to the occasion, with strings of roses and streamers of twinkling blue lights highlighting the backdrop and beautiful bouquets of flowers placed on the stage.
Since it was a commemorative occasion some of the participating students wore colourful clothes, while others had chosen to wear white outfits embellished with silver as their symbol of celebration.
Hearing the girls recite ‘Naat’ without any kind of accompaniment, it could be noticed that there is a lot of talent around and it just needs to be nurtured and recognized and this kind of platform is one way to do it — bringing out the best in participants because of the importance of the occasion.
In conclusion a prayer was offered for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan and tea was served during which time the guests interacted with each other and voiced words of praise for the participants. The news
