LAHORE:January 25:UNIVERSITY of Health Sciences (UHS) is organising an international seminar on Human Disaster Management on Thursday (tomorrow).
The seminar is being organised in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), UK. Prof. Timothy O’Dempsy, Director of Studies for Humanitarian Assistance Programmes at LSTM, will be the guest speaker. The theme of the seminar is “Role of Academia and Media in Human Disaster Management”.
A formal agreement of cooperation will be signed between the UHS and LSTM to devise joint strategies for promoting awareness, providing cheap and affordable preventive solutions and encouraging indigenous research on tropical diseases such as tuberculosis, typhoid, hepatitis, dengue, malaria and other vector-borne diseases.
The seminar will be attended by representatives of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Global Change Impact Studies Centre Islamabad and Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122).
