RMC hiking club to hold

Rawalpindi:March 04: The hiking club of Rawalpindi Medical College is organising the RMC annual hike in collaboration with the Young Doctors Association and Pakistan Green Task Force today (Sunday).

The hike titled ‘Solidarity for Pakistan’ would be started from base track 3 Margalla Hills at 10:00 a.m. and would finish at Gokina near Pir Sohawa.

The RMC students from first year to fifth year, health professionals serving at the three allied hospitals and faculty of Rawalpindi Medical College along with doctors in administrative cadre at the allied hospitals and young doctors would participate in the hike. This time, the paramedics serving at the allied hospitals have also been invited to participate in the hike.

President YDA Rawalpindi Chapter Dr. Umar Saeed informed ‘The News’ that the hike is open for all and persons from all walks of life are invited to participate in it. The hike being arranged is the 21st annual hike of the RMC.

Chairman Pakistan Green Task Force Professor of Medicine at RMC Dr. Shoaib Shafi told ‘The News’ on Saturday that senior officials from health sector have been invited to participate in the RMC annual hike. He added that no chief guest has been invited to lead the hike as all guests would be considered as honourable by the organisers.

He said that the title of the hike ‘Solidarity for Pakistan’ has been chosen significantly keeping in mind the present circumstances in the country and the mindset needed to put nation on the way of progress. “The Doctors’ community and the associated health professionals are working for integrity of Pakistan and desire solidarity for a prosperous future of the country and for the generations to come,” he said.

President GTF Dr. Jamal Nasir said that the hike would help conveying message to masses that solidarity in Pakistan is need of the time. “It is social responsibility of all educated members of the society to sensitise general public on steps needed to promote unity and discipline to strengthen further Pakistan,” he said.

The organisers of the hike would host a lunch for the participants of the hike with the funds provided by the GTF and as well arranged refreshments for them during the hike with the self-generated funds by doctors.

“We have also arranged prizes and gifts for the winners of the race being arranged as part of the hike,” said Dr. Shoaib. He added that the participants of the hike would be divided into categories like senior doctors, postgraduate trainees and students would be put in different categories and prizes would be given to winners in each category.The news.
