LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) Syndicate members on Monday issued a press statement to appreciate the appointment of Dr Mujahid Kamran as PU Vice Chancellor (VC) by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa.

Syndicate members, including Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Assistant Prof Javed Sami, and Lecturer Shumaila Gul, appreciated the CM on appointing Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran as PU VC for the next four years.

The syndicate members said the decision had proved that the CM gave preference to merit and capabilities, since he had appointed the number one candidate as recommended by the Vice Chancellor’s Search Committee.

They said that the decision had won the hearts of PU teachers, employees and students. They also lauded the CM for rejecting the pressure of political elements and taking the decision on merit. The syndicate members also thanked Khosa for approving the summary without any delay keeping in view the merit and importance of education.

The syndicate members further said that they hoped the VC would continue his previous policies regarding promotion of research culture and maintenance of academic atmosphere at the varsity. They said the VC was expected to take decisions without taking into consideration any political attachments or influences just as he had been doing in the past.Daily Times.
