Lahore: 24 Jan: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore has announced that The Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) at LUMS announced the opening of its new building in a ceremony attended by the Pro-Chancellor, Rector, faculty members, donors, members of the Management Committee, Advisory Board, Dean of SDSB and distinguished alumni. The building is a generous gift by the Dawood family and will house the SDSB faculty, staff, MBA and Executive MBA classes.
Various speakers shared their fond memories of the school’s infancy stages and gave details of future plans. The Rector, Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood mentioned that this is a proud day for the School and marks start of a new era in its pursuit of excellence and growth. The school is fully committed and dedicated to contribute in knowledge generation and dissemination in the field of management and this purpose-built facility will provide the requisite infrastructure to fulfil this mission.
The Dean of SDSB, Dr. Arif Nazir Butt, thanked the donors for their consistent and generous support to the school over the years. He stressed on how their contributions will help SDSB in realising the goals it has set for itself in developing meaningful research for the industry and academia and bridging the gap between the industry requirements and resource capabilities. He emphasized that the role of the school is to produce leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs who will reshape the economic opportunities in the country and contribute to the society. He further stressed the importance of sustainability in academic excellence and financial viability.
The building will be formally launched with the LUMS Annual Convocation in June 2012.
