LCWU head's firm stance on discipline

Lahore: Lahore College for Women University Vice-Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor has made it clear that the university management will not allow anyone to sabotage the peaceful academic environment of the institution.

In order to deal with such cases, she said, disciplinary committee was being granted more powers. She was speaking to varsity's teaching and non-teaching staff at the LCWU auditorium on Thursday.

She also explained the roadmap to strengthen university's profile in terms of research so that it could find its place among world's top 500 universities. She stressed that every individual in the university should perform duties as required of them.

Dr Mansoor said only balanced education could counter extremism which was a bane of this society. "We must focus on producing moderate and balanced graduates bearing good moral character, harmony and flexible attitude. It is more important to develop human resources than infrastructure," she asserted.

She said there were more than 10,000 students on the university campus and it was imperative to improve the quality of its products. Being the head of institution, she said, she was fully aware of the problems of the staff.
