GCU Lahore Honors Position Holders

Lahore: 06 Jan: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has anounced that The Examination Department; GCU Lahore, organized a special ceremony in the honor of its 11 students who have secured positions in Lahore Board Intermediate Examinations 2011. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman; Izaz-I-Kamal, was the Chief Guest at the ceremony that was also attended by the parents and family members of position holders. GCU former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ikramul Haq and Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Pervaiz were also present.
Talking to position-holders about the resolution supporting ban on cell-phones in educational institutions, Prof. Khaleeq said “students should themselves act responsibly so that nobody needs to impose restrictions on them.” He said that Pakistan needs quality human capital. The Vice Chancellor beseeched the talented youth to step forward and fill this void by attaining quality education with diligence and perseverance. He laid a great stress on improving the quality of graduates being passed out from various educational institutions of Pakistan.
GCU Controller of Examinations Ashraf Shabbir Bokhari also spoke on the occasion. He said that 146 years have passed since the first graduate of the Government College Lahore, Sanjhi Mull, in 1868 left the portals of the alma mater to the enter the practical life for personal success and public acclaim. Since then, he said, the sons and daughters of this alma mater shaped the world around them and where ever they went, they distinct themselves by their courage to know the truth, decency, sanity, moderation in action and integrity. He said besides 11 positions; as many as 369 of total 963 University students secured A+ grade in the Intermediate examinations 2011 while 248 Ravians got A grade. He said GCU students have the record of securing highest marks in the Board Examinations.
Talking to the Vice Chancellor, the position holders said that they all got fired up when Pakistan is ranked among the third world countries and promised that they would study day and night to become an asset for Pakistan. They termed their stay at the Government College Lahore as “golden days of their life.”
