FSc student commits suicide

LAHORE:January 25:A student of FSc committed suicide after her parents stopped her from appearing in the supplementary exams in the Shahdara police limits on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Nadra, daughter of Liaqat Ali. A police official said the victim had failed in one paper of FSc over which she requested her parents to let her appear in the supplementary exams. However, her parents admonished her over failure and stopped her from appearing in supplementary exams.

On Tuesday, she got dejected over the attitude of her parents and swallowed poisonous pills. She went unconscious and was rushed to a local hospital where she died. Police handed over the body after legal formalities.

Shop burnt: Valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted at a shop in the Gujjarpura police limits on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 Fire Service reached the scene after being informed and extinguished the fire. The owner of the shop, named Arshad, said that fire broke out due to a short circuit and engulfed valuables, including pots of plastic. Valuables worth Rs 300,000 were gutted.

Criminals held: Lahore Police claimed to have arrested a number of accused from different areas of the City, including two kidnappers, who had killed a man two years back.

CIA Cantt police arrested two accused involved in the kidnapping for ransom of Muhammad Naeem, a resident of Islampura in 2010, and his murder. The accused were identified as Ali Akbar and Dilawar.

Meanwhile, Shahdra Town police arrested a PO, Zeeshan, who had killed a man named Azeem in Baghbanpura in 2011, at a police picket. He was later handed over to Baghbanpura police.

Separately, Baghbanpura police claimed to have arrested a drug pusher, named Akram, and recovered 4kg charas from his custody. Civil Lines and Shahdra Town police claimed to have arrested two accused and recovered 20 bottles of wine from their custody.

Ghaziaabad police claimed to have arrested two members of a mobile snatchers gang and recovered illegal weapons from their custody. The news.
