Computer errors force BISE to delay Intermediate results

LAHORE:19 August: Board of Intermediate and Secondary, Lahore may not stick to earlier announcement of declaring intermediate results on the August 25 due to the existing errors in process of result making in the computer department.
The Sources privy to result making in the board told The Frontier Post that some problems has occurred in computer department which has delayed the process thus the Intermediate result may be declared on August 28 or September 1st.
Reliable sources told that board authorities have directed the computer department to ensure error free intermediate result. “Authorities do not want any hassle this time and they are very much concerned with errors found in recently announced matriculation result”, they said. They also mentioned that board officials are conscious of embarrassing situation happened to face due to erroneous results of intermediate and matriculation last year. “Board officials are in no position to handle such situation because they have a feeling that Punjab government can take concrete decisions against them in case of blunder that happened in 2011 results”, sources said.
“Thus, for board’s authorities, it is more important to announce an error free result rather to meet previously speculated date of result declaration”, they said.
“This has been the reason for shuffling result dates twice-this might continue until computer department ensure authorities provision of 100 per cent error free results and easy availability through web even for huge number of users” they said. Lahore board had to face severe criticism last year due to the complete failure of newly experimented computerized result making.
Last year, Punjab government had to cancel intermediate result following massive strikes by students and directed all eight education boards in the province to re-check and verify the results with in 45 days after result announcement. Punjab government also took special measures to remove flaws in the computer result making process by removing IT manager at computer department and directing board’s authorities to hire professionals for computer department..
Later government had to engaging top information technology experts for the computerization of results in all eight education boards in the province. Qaiser Virk, Public Relations Officer BISE, Lahore told The Frontier Post that final decision about intermediate result announcement would be made in Punjab Boards Committee of Chairman (PBCC’s) meeting. “It is likely that they will decide to announce result on September 1st”, he added.F.P.report.
