Lahore:11 November:THE judicial commission, comprising Justice Shahid Saeed of the Lahore High Court, on Thursday started an inquiry into finding reasons for the delay and faults in results of matriculation and intermediate exams and ordered the serving and former chairmen and other officials of all eight Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) of Punjab to file their written replies by Saturday.
On Thursday, the serving chairmen and some other officials of the BISE Lahore appeared before the commission but they did not submit written replies.
However, Justice Saeed held a meeting with them and asked them to come up with their written statements to help the commission reach a conclusion.
Most of the officials, who appeared before the commission, held Dr Majid Naeem, former IT consultant, responsible for the whole mess. On the other hand, Dr Majid refuted the allegations and told the commission that he was given the project of Rs200 million but no written contract was given to him.
The commission had appealed to the general public to come up before the commission if anyone had any information about the matter. Only one student turned up and registrar of the commission asked him to come on Saturday to record his statement.
Secretary of the BISE Lahore that he could not understand the system, therefore, he was not in a position to say anything about the failure of the system.
Manzoor Hussain Dogar, registrar of the commission, said that as no volunteer had appeared for recording statement, the commission had decided to summon two headmasters from each district to submit their recommendations.
The judicial commission will determine the causes of delay, nature and extent of errors and inaccuracies as well as examine the efficacy and reliability of existing process for compilation and declaration of results. It will also fix responsibility for the delay, inaccuracies and errors and ascertain reasons so that such a situation could be averted in the future. The commission will also make recommendations to improve the exam BISEs system.
On the request of the Punjab government, the LHC chief justice had constituted the one-member commission to hold the inquiry.The news.
