Students, teachers’ role in controlling drug addiction sought

LAHORE:April 13: A seminar on Awareness of Drug Addiction among youths organised by Punjab University Institute of Applied Psychology. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Consultant, Anti-Drug/Narcotics campaign was the guest speaker. Prof Dr Farah Malik, Director Applied Psychology presided the seminar and Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences was the chief guest. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said that use of drugs among youths is a burning issue in society while teachers and students can play a vital role in controlling drug addiction in surrounding areas. He said the new trends of drug addiction are increasing among students who belong to rich class; crystal ice, cocaine, heroin and different pharmaceutical drugs are easily available in the market. Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences and Prof Dr Farah Malik Director Applied Psychology highlighted the drug addiction issue among youths and need of enhancing awareness in the community for its prevention.
