Lahore:April 13: Punjab University Library Book Club on Thursday organised its fourth “Book Talk” programme. The two books selected for the event were “Mr. and Mrs. Jinnah: the marriage that shook India” by Sheela Reddy and “Anarkali: a novel” by Mirza Hamid Baig in Urdu language. Punjab University Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, being well-known historian, narrated the sensitive issues weaved in the book on the most controversial marriage of the subcontinent and their impacts on the independence movement. A critical review on “Anarkali: a novel” was presented by Department of Urdu Prof Dr Zia-ul-Hassan while honouring the author who accompanied him on the dais. Zia narrated the plot of the book along with reading some extracts from it. He encouraged the audience to read fiction to explore their inner-selves. Mirza Hamid thanked PU Library for providing a platform to discuss books. He informed the audience that his book was based on a research and writing effort span of nearly thirty one years.
