Rawalpindi:The foundation-stone laying ceremony for the new academic block of Government Degree College for Women, Jhanda Chichi, was held here on Thursday.
MPA Malik Yasir Raza was the chief guest on the occasion, who also announced a grant of Rs10 million for the upgradation of the college. Advocate Akhtar Mahmood and Director Colleges Dr. Mohammad Ashraf were also invited as guests.
Prizes were given to students, who had excelled in academic as well as co-curricular activities.
In BA examinations of the academic session 2007-2009, Naila Batool was awarded first prize, Rabia Faisal received second prize and third prize was given to Shumaila Khatoon. At intermediate level, prizes were given to Khadija Aman of pre-medical, Rizwana Anwar of pre-engineering, Amna Naveed of ICS, Mamoona of general science Group and Asma Bibi of arts.
Prizes were also given to students, who had shown extraordinary performance in extra-curricular activities.
The chief guest congratulated the prize-winners and promised to provide additional furniture and water filtration and laboratory facilities to the college. The news
