LAHORE: 09 December : An international conference on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will commence on Wednesday at the Government College University (GCU) Lahore under the auspices of its Centre of Excellence China Studies (CECS) and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
As many as 50 eminent academicians and policymakers - including 20 from China and seven from the US and Europe - are participating in the two-day conference.
CECS Director Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt said the economic corridor project would have long term impacts on the region, adding that the conference would explore economic, political, strategic, cultural and social dimensions of the multibillion dollars project.
The eight technical sessions of the conference include CPEC: Challenges and Prospects; Sino-Pakistan ties; Economic, political and strategic dimensions of CPEC; Strategic significance of Indian Ocean and Socio-cultural and media perspectives on CPEC.
Dr Butt said that Chinese experts had already arrived at the GCU to share their insights and recommendations at the conference.Daily Times.
