Pakistani students should benefit from Japan scholarships’

LAHORE:November 14: Pakistani students should get benefit from Japan’s scholarship offers because the doors of Japanese universities are always open to Pakistani students. This was stated by Japan’s Ambassador in Pakistan Takashi Kurai during the oath-taking ceremony of Monbukagakusho Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) organised at University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore.

Punjab University VC appointed University of Jhang

LAHORE:13 November: Punjab University’s Centre for Coal Technology Director Prof Dr Shahid Munir has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of University of Jhang. Prof Shahid did his PhD from University of Leeds and obtained masters degree in chemical engineering from Punjab University with gold medal. He is also a MBA from University of the Punjab. He is a member of panel of expert of Punjab Power Development Board. He has also served as Controller of Examinations of Punjab University for three and half years.The news.

Punjab University to promote research: VC

LAHORE:November 13: Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has said that the PU administration will promote research to help resolve problems being faced by society and the country. The VC was addressing an opening ceremony of a workshop on production and purification of recombinant proteins organised by the PU School of Biological Sciences (SBS) here on Monday.

PU convocation Students awarded PhD, MPhil degrees, medals

LAHORE:11 November: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said there will be zero political interference in appointment of vice-chancellors (VCs) and deans at universities because the government believes in merit and transparency. While addressing Punjab University’s second phase of 126th convocation here on Saturday, he said the government would extend full support to the universities for improving their international ranking.

Three-day moot concluded at Government College University

LAHORE:November 10: A three-day moot concluded here at the Government College University, Lahore with speakers and participants stressing the need for accessible, affordable and inclusive education, effective implementation of laws and speedy justice for all to improve human rights conditions in Pakistan. Human Rights Commission of Pakistan President IA Rehman chaired a policy dialogue at the closing day of the conference titled “Human Rights Challenges and Prospects” which was also addressed by Prof Sajjad Naseer and Dr Farhat Mahmud.

Punjab University 126th convocation today

LAHORE:November 10: The second phase Punjab University’s 126th convocation will be held on Saturday (today) at university auditorium. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar will be the chief guest while Provincial Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz, Chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamud-din, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhter and others will attend the event. Consultative session: The Urban Unit organised a consultative session with Dr Farid Panjawani on the topic of teaching and learning opportunities in Rahim Yar Khan district.

GC University Philosophy Dept turns 150

LAHORE:November 9: The Philosophy Department of Government College University (GCU) has turned 150. In this connection, a large number of students, Old Ravians and faculty members of the department on Thursday participated in an on-campus colorful and jubilant walk, led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, to mark the sesquicentennial anniversary of the oldest Department of Philosophy in the entire South Asia. Eminent writer Mirza Athar Baig also participated in the walk.

Postponed Punjab University exams rescheduled

LAHORE:06 November: Punjab University has rescheduled the examinations which were postponed due to law and order situation last week. The examination department has notified that BS (four-year programme) 6th semester 2018 examination will be conducted on November 07, BS (four-year programme) second semester examination 2018 will be conducted on November 08, and BS (four-year programme) fourth semester examination 2018 will be conducted on November 10. IT University opened admissions for its Executive MBA

LAHORE:November 3: Information Technology University (ITU) has opened admissions for its Executive MBA in Information, Technology & Entrepreneurship (EMBITE) for spring 2019 session. It is the first programme in Pakistan designed specifically to provide skills and knowledge to mid-career professionals who are interested in starting a new business or those who intend to grow their business. The deadline for online application is December 31 and classes will be commenced on January 26.

LUMS ranked 95th among varsities in Asia

LAHORE:October 27: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) jumped eight places to make it to the top 100 educational institutions in Asia, according to the QS World University Rankings Asia 2019. LUMS is now ranked at 95 in Asia and at the 41st place regionally. Since 2014, LUMS has moved up 4 times. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings are one of most prestigious and recognised international university rankings in the world.The news.
